Denise Lopez new album Black Lace & Leather on Ubetoo Music Distribution!

Denise Lopez was born in Mexico City but grew up in Stockholm Sweden.

Since starting her career as a background singer and dancer in -89 touring with Dr.Alban, Melodie MC and dance group Culture Beat, she has collaborated with artists all over the world, released five albums and worked with famous producers like Max Martin, Andreas Carlsson and Anders Bagge.

Denise Lopez most resent collaborations have among other been Pras Michel from the Fugees and Swedish HipHop artist Lazee. The music on her new album Black Lace & Leather is a mix of club music and pop.

Denise Lopez has written most of the songs.

“My lyrics are very strait forward, honest and taking out of my real life. This album means a lot to me since I have been through a lot since the last album was released in 2003.”

For her new album Denise Lopez chooses to release trough Ubetoo Music Distribution.

“I left Sony Music 1999 to start my own label and I have not been signed as an artist since then. I do collaborations with different labels around the globe. Universal Sweden only released one single for me. So I am my own boss to decide who to work with. Like my song B.I.T.C.H – babe in total control of herself. That is me!”

When it comes to advice for other artists wanting to start their own label Denise Lopez has a lot to say;

“Make sure you know what you get yourself into. Even if you have the money it does not mean you will learn how to do it on your own right away. Know your boundaries and don’t be afraid to get help. Believe me: Failure is a must to get strong, to understand and also to appreciate the good times in this business”

When asking her about the changes in the music industry during her 20 years in the business she replies;

“The biggest change is the internet that is both good and bad. I have sold over 500 000 physical albums so I have had the chance to know how it feels to make money off of physical sales. But since the internet came, people download music for free. Instead of being negative, I’ve opened up too see great new ways to make a living. Touring is a big income for me and branding. I have also worked hard on becoming a better Dj since that is also my passion.”

When it comes to the future she says; “No goals are too high or impossible for me. I believe I can do anything I want to, as long as I work hard enough to reach them. The past does not equal the future – stay present and make sure you control your life!”

Med sitt nya album Black Lace & Leather väljer Denise Lopez att satsa på internet först!

Albumet är det andra som släpps från sångerskans egna label DLP International. Inför sitt nya album har sångerskan valt att lansera sitt album via nättjänsten Ubetoo Music Distribution med distribution via 500 online kanaler, bland annat via Itunes, Spotify och Amazon.

“För mig är det viktigt att äga rättigheterna till min egen musik och det har jag gjort sen 1999. Tack vare nya tjänster på nätet är det numera möjligt för artister att själva distribuera och sälja sin musik till sina fans. Och behålla hela förtjänsten själv. Jag har sålt över 500 000 album och haft förmånen att tjäna pengar på vanlig skivförsäljning. Men marknaden har förändrats. Och tekniken. Idag kan alla artister distribuera och sälja sin egen musik utan att använda ett skivbolag. Hela branschen har förändrats, och det skapar helt nya möjligheter för de som hänger med”, säger Denise.

Sångerskan arbetar med en rad kända namn på sitt nya album, exempelvis Pras Michel från Fugees, Liz McClarnon från Atomic Kitten, svenska Lazee och Niklas Petersson (Velvet, Agnes, Dr Alban & Dilba).

Fysiska albumet finns att köpa under fliken shop.

”Vi märker en stor skillnad nu än för bara ett år sedan. Allt fler artister väljer att starta egna bolag för att kontrollera sin utgivning och behålla all royalty själv, istället för att ge den största delen av intäkterna till skivbolaget. Den nya tekniken innebär enorma möjligheter för musikartister”, säger Anna-Clara Blixt Modin som är VD och grundare till Ubetoo.
